An e-commerce start-up focused on accelerating business for branded consumer products on feature phones with mVpay, a discover-and-buy mobile app.

The idea involved providing neighbourhood retail stores with feature phones preloaded with the app featuring a catalogue of branded products. Customers could select and order for products of their choice from the catalogue and pay securely on the app.

Outsourced CMO started with mVikarsha in April 2014 as its first business development team, which meant working up from ground zero. The expectation couldn’t be clearer: create, build and drive a 360 degree marketing plan to help the start-up achieve its business goals…from the scratch. In this we worked closely with its COO, Mr Jayakrishnan RG. From creating its brand identity to pushing the concept through marketplaces on both traditional and digital platforms, we did it all. Since a lot of our potential customers were not tech-savvy we used a host of offline BTL tools to popularize the concept and build relevant brand awareness. Execution meant evaluating and on-boarding vendors who could produce results on tight budgets and even tighter timelines.
